Miniatures Exchange minis received! And IDF!

I received the two shipments today!

First from John Bear Ross:

A great HAMR suit!

I really like this model, and the katana hand is awesome!

And then from Steve over at Firebase Ares 15

The grav tank and CMG troopers are great.  I like the basing enough so that I'm gonna have to steal the technique!  And the gang taskforce from Rebel minis are the icing! They'll be a great commando force.

And then, on my end, here is my IDF squad painted:

WIP IDF Force

Some Vistula Legion painted up as Interplanetary Defense Force. Along with a Micropanzer Stoat and KM Polecat.

For use in Gruntz. They start as a neutral force on the table. When one side causes too much collateral damage to civilian targets they then become controlled by the opposing force.

 (And you can see in the background I have a crashed shuttle from Micropanzer that I'll be painting up, very excited because it's so cool!

Threat Recon Photo...

A quick recon photo from the spy satellites:

I got another Falcon Halo Micro Ops... this one I put the seat in from the first one I had.  The provides seating for 6 troops in the passenger section.  I have another order out to GZG to get more seated troops.

Each of the Kestrels holds a four-man squad with a drone, the lead Falcon gunship holds the commander and has two door gunners.

15mm Halo Micro Ops Falcon Converted and Kestrel

Finished up my Halo Micro Ops Falcon today, really happy with it!

It has two GZG NAC gunners and a seated GZG NAC inside.  I need to get another one.  I think I have a blackhawk 1/100 scale sitting around some where and I might take the seats from that and put it in my next falcon.

I also added missiles on each pylon from an Apache kit.

The dome on top is from a Tau accessory sprue.

What do you guys think?

Updated Pictures: Old Crow Gecko with Digi Camo and custom decals...

I'm very happy how this turned out...  The decals were printed on clear decal paper (except the skull and warning text, that's from other decal sheets) and applied onto light colors so that they didn't get muddled out.

Test Tutorial - "Digital Camo"

Well, I came upon this link today:

And I figured I'd give it a try:

I used an old crow vehicle I had sitting around that had already been painted in a light blue/gray with a wash...


First I laid out two strips of masking tape, then I used my exacto to slice them in half long-ways and then into 1/4 inch sections.  After that I used my tweezers to place the cut rectangles on my vehicle in a fairly random pattern:

After most of the first layer is on:

Normally I'd use an airbrush, but it was late at night and my wife and baby were sleeping, so I just used a paintbrush.  I basically heavy dabbed the paint on as not to move the masking layers.  Here is the second coat:

Painting the top, and darkest, color...

Removing the masking after letting it dry for a while.

And after a quick highlight and some simple details picked out:

I'm actually really happy how it turned out.  Not too "clean" but it actually works well.  When I get some more details painted and some decals i'm sure it will look great!

I've added a close match to the Grey that I'm going to use, and print on white decal paper, that way they won't be too translucent.  And i've also added additional images:

My Custom Decal Sheet- Suggestions Wanted!

Hi All,

Well, I ordered some vehicles and such from GZG, so I figured my mercenary force for Hammer's Slammers The Crucible needed some decals.

My mercs will be the ClearHorizon Interstellar Security... and here is the sheet I have so far:

I'll be printing it on clear decal paper... I have a big empty space, any suggestions?

And of course, any comments/critiques of what I put together would be appreciated too!
