WIP - Miner Contract Strikers - Freedom Fighters

Somewhere on a colony world the contract workers have gotten fed up with their treatment at the hands of the parent corp.

With the "help" of some anonymous backers (likely rival corps) they have started their insurgency:

The freedom fighters fighting against an unfair contract

Fuel is in short supply and horses, brought from off-world for racing and then stolen, are quiet.  Quick ambushes are easily accomplished from horseback.

The mining vehicles become makeshift APCs

Part of the "regulars", those with prior military experience we put in units and equipped with military-grade stuff

A little bit of money goes a long way when you hire one of the best merc teams in the sector

An embedded reporter brings stories of the plight of the workers to the public.

Drop Pod prints in hand!

I got the drop pod and I'm very happy with it!

Here are some comparison shots with some figures I had sitting around.

I sent it off to the casters today and should have it for sale in a couple of weeks!

Let me know what you guys think!

Flick's Copplestone Castings 15mm Vikings - And a new Background from Hanger 18

I got my Hanger 18 backgrounds, and I wanted to try them out, here is a picture of the awesome viking painted by Flick:

A great miniature, and the background worked out nicely too.

The lighting wasn't ideal in the garage, but I think it still came out very nice.

One Last Photo - Long DoF

Ok, I promise, last one for a bit.

This has a nice sharp DoF... I'm pretty happy how this one turned out.

Thanks for all the comments! It's really helped me get this down.

Yes, another photo, this time with more photoshop!

Ok... this will be the last one for a bit :)

No promises though.

Here it is with a bit of photoshop.  I think the next one I do I'll open up the focal length and get a long DoF. Then maybe I can do a cool alien sky.

What do you guys think?

Pictures of my photo setup, and some more "atmospheric" photos...

Hi everyone,

Here is a photo of my photo setup (how meta is that?)

Sorry it's a little blurry...

And some photos with a blue background.  The blue background is a blue folder I found laying around.

Not sure how I feel about the horizon here...maybe I should paint mountains on the blue?

A little cheerier now that the gloom has gone away and it's blue skies.

New Photo Techniques

Hi Everyone,

As i'm preparing for my new miniatures line (clearhorizonminiatures.com) i'm experimenting with new photo techniques... I'm pretty happy how they turned out!
The Survey team disembarks with corporate in tow.
Standing guard in the fields.

Omni-Corp starts their all-terrain patrol.

The ground is a pre-made BUSCH ground cover set.  The back is simply a neutral gray piece of cardstock.  The whole thing is in a popup light box with a bunch of lights.

And some city shots:

Let me know what you think!

ClearHorizon Miniatures - Sneak Peek - Drop Pod HEL/DIV

Hi Everyone!

I'd like to announce that i've been working on getting a new miniatures line up, called ClearHorizon Miniatures.

I have miniatures being sculpted, and a drop pod has been designed and will be cast up in resin.

I'm not ready to talk about the miniatures yet (although they are very cool ;) and are being sculpted by Rodrick Campbell from Highlander Studios), but I wanted to show off what Steve Tyler from CoolHand3d has 3D sculpted:

It is approx 29mm tall and approx 38mm wide.

It is designed to hold two occupants in each of it's three facings, for a total of six, although we've designed it with closed interior doors so you can say there are as many inside as you want.

The ramps and landing gear are all separate, in case you want to have a closed or open drop pod.

As far as the inner doors opening:

From Jane's Drop Pods and Dropships 2236

"The High Energy Landing / Direct Insertion Vehicle Mark X9 features a unique inner door that protects the occupants even after the ramps have released and deployed.  In order to allow the door to open in the space provided the door has been constructed out of electric-memonic laminate nanite-based titanium  and carbon alloy.  When opening an electric charge is applied at a very specific frequency.  The nanites then restructure themselves so that the top of the door widens by approx 6.2 cm. The remainder of the door then collapses into the space at the top and then solidifies open.  To close the opposite occurs"

The design is being printed in 3d now, and I hope to have the resin castings available for sale soon™.

Thanks for looking, and I can't wait to show you guys more!
